The Nursery that IS

Back before there were Schmidtlets, we used to refer to their room as the NTB: Nursery To Be. It was my favorite writing room — how can you beat whiteboard walls?

But they’re not my whiteboards anymore — and I’ve spent the past few weeks fussing over every other detail of the NTI. You’d be surprised that it’s possible to spend 12 hours researching knobs, but when you’re Bed RestLess, why not?

So, mayhaps finishing the twins room became a minor obsession. Thank God for the internet, which made assembling the room a snap… well, a snap for ME.

St. Matt and my in-laws had to do all of the hard labor I lay on the daybed and supervised – while my bed rest bodyguard went into stealth mode and scrutinized every move I made.

Without further ado, I present the Schmidtlets’ room!

But just because the room is ready, doesn’t mean the twins are.Β  Stay put, Schmidtlets!

  1. Andrea – I spent AGES debating what I wanted over the crib. I’m so glad you like what I chose πŸ™‚ (It makes me teary-eyed too!)

Thanks, Linda! Though we still need to do final touches (plug in lamps, put away clothing, add book bins…) it feels so nice to be DONE!

  2. That. Is. STUNNING! Oh my God. Have you guys thought of going into the nursery design business? That is beautiful and calming and so cozy!!!! Wonderful!!!!! I am so glad things are status quo too bb!! Thrilled for you!

  3. Courtney – Thanks so much! I could go into the nursery design business if I only had to do one every 2 years πŸ™‚

So, if anyone wants a nursery, give me two years heads-up and I’ll plan something special just for you!

VY – Thanks! I really wanted a room that was soothing and calm. We’re thrilled with how it turned out. Xoxo!

  4. Eeeee! It’s GORGEOUS, T!!! If I were a Schmidtlet, I’d feel so HAPPY and SAFE to go to sleep here! πŸ˜€

…does this mean you had to paint plot-clouds in another room finally…? πŸ˜‰

  6. Emily – Oh, I’ve always had a whiteboard wall in my designated “writing area” — but I liked the NTB better so I never used it. Once the boys arrive and their clouds become covered with sleep, diaper & feeding counts, I’m sure my own plot wall will stop being neglected.

  7. LOVE the pictures!!! What a terrific room for your boys. I would like to see a close-up picture of your cork floor…. πŸ™‚

  8. Love the nursery! Our theme is frogs in bright green, dark chocolate brown and brilliant white! I can’t wait to get his room done. We just finished moving our daughter to her new big girl room. πŸ™‚
